5 Indie, modern cross stitch designers you should know about!

One of the things I've loved about my journey into being a cross stitch designer with Trouvaille Stitch Kits has been becoming part of a community of wonderful cross stitch designers. So today, in honour of Holly & Co's Shop Independent Day last Saturday (24th June), I thought I would share five fabulous independent, modern cross stitch designers from around the UK. There are so many more I want to share and promise to do so at a later date, but for now, here are some to get us started!

Sew Sophie Crafts

two square white cards with cross stitch designs. left design is a raninbow with hearts, cloud with rain drops and a sun, and the right design is a smiley cloud with heart shaped rain drops. Cards on wooden table with envelopes, embroidery hoop, embroidery floss and bag in background

Sophie of Sew Sophie Crafts not only creates cute designs full of seasonal themes and adorable animals, but she's also the queen of 'community over competition' amongst UK cross stitch designers. Sophie set up the Instagram page Cross Stitch Creatives which showcases lots of UK based designers (including myself, thanks Sophie!), as well as providing a private designers group chat so we can get advice for our fairly niche business issues which is so nice because most of us are running these businesses alone which can be tough. Check out her website for some cute cross stitch kits like these gorgeous little card kits.

Innocent Bones

temperance, judgement and strength tarot cards cross stitch designs

Grace of Innocent Bones is a fellow North East based cross stitch designer with an exciting summer ahead! Grace's designs ooze luxurious gothic vibes, including tarot, celestial and zodiac themes, mixed with some sweary designs for those who suffer no fools! This summer Grace is opening up her Innocent Bones Studio in Newcastle with a little shop and creative space, and I can't wait to visit! Check out her website for some fab gothic kits like these tarot kits.

the Geeky Stitching Co.

positive colourful cross stitch design, if today was heavy put it down and let it go

Jess from The Geeky Stitching Co is a Devon-based cross stitch designer and an all-round bundle of sunshine! Her designs are full of bright colours, positive mantras and cute animals, and they never fail to make me smile. Jess has hundreds of super-fun PDF patterns to choose from and can provide 'material packs' so you can still get what you need. Check out her Etsy shop for all her patterns, including this beauty which is one of my personal faves!

Hello Treacle

rainbow coloured craftivism cross stitch design

Amy from Hello Treacle is another fellow North Eastern cross stitch designer, often found at some of the same markets as me! From her base in County Durham she creates cross stitch designs and other fun stuff including jewellery and pins. As a proud rebel crafter Amy's designs are focussed on politics and activism with quite a few sweary ones in there too! Check out her website for all her wonderful creations, including this fab Craftivism cross stitch kit.

Emma Louise Art Stitch

St Ives, cornwall, cross stitch design, beach scene with boats

While most of my cross stitch designs feature locations in the North East of England, in pretty much the other corner of the country, Emma from Emma Louise Art Stitch is creating modern cross stitch designs showcasing the south west, in particular, Cornwall and it's gorgeous coastline (somewhere very much on my list to visit!). Check out her website, or her shop in St Austell, for lots of Cornish designs, including this sunny St Ives kit.
