As a cross stitch designer I often get asked to create designs of much-loved places around the world. Paris, the US and Iceland are common requests! However, I specialise in creating modern, beginner-friendly cross stitch kits of UK landmarks, and as anyone who knows the UK will know, given the wealth of historical properties and beautiful landscapes in the UK, we have LOTS to be keeping me busy!
So, for those looking for more international cross stitch designs, I thought I would share some cross stitch designers from around the world who create gorgeous patterns of places that mean the most to them.
Wattle You Create
We're starting down under with Wattle You Create ran by Sydney-based twin sisters Ruth and Helen. Together they celebrate their love of Australia through their bright and beautiful cross stitch patterns. Their super easy patterns not only showcase much-loved Australian places, but also Australian flora, fauna and the Aussie way of life. Bluey fans will even find a pattern celebrating Australian Cattle Dogs! Check out their Etsy for their full range of cross stitch patterns like this gorgeous Brisbane Pattern.
Sew Charming Design Co.
Looking for something a little more niche? The campus collection by Sew Charming Design Co is pretty up there! US based Jamie helps people celebrate their university days by creating simple yet stunning cross stitch patterns of US University Campuses, as well as selling cute stickers to match. Oh and she also has patterns of fictional US locations such as Star's Hollow (I see you getting excited, Gilmore Girls fans!). Check out her website for her signature campus collection such as this Austin pattern inspired by the University of Texas.
Pigeon Coop
Max from Pigeon Coop Designs is a Canadian cross stitch designer who's love of his country and nature shines through his designs. His range of patterns showcasing the Canadian provinces and territories are adorable, but I particularly love his series of patterns celebrating the worlds ecoregions, something I'd never heard of until his designs introduced me to them! Check out his website or Etsy for all his patterns, including these beautiful patterns celebrating the Everglades. (The two patterns shown are listed separately, the link takes you to the pattern at the bottom left of the picture)
Needleminder Lair
Sarah from NeedleMinderLair is a pixel artist and cross stitch designer based in Germany. Her designs are cute and colourful (if you love pink and pastels, you will love her patterns!) and showcase Japanese landscapes and city scapes, as well as other Japanese-themes including anime, kawaii and pokemon inspired patterns. Check out her Etsy for all her wonderful patterns, including this beautiful Tokyo scene.
Luca-S
If you're an experienced cross stitcher looking for a bit of a challenge, Luca-S has got you covered! Luca-S are a Moldovan company started by husband and wife team Anatol and Marina Luca in the early 90s. They sell everything cross stitch and embroidery-related, including a beautiful range of city-scape cross stitch kits, including this stunning Paris scene, all of which you can find on their website.
I hope this list is helpful and I wish you happy stitchy travels!
